Class Leader Felicitates Teacher on Her Achieving Best Teacher Award

Life is beautiful when we have people around who love us and genuinely care for us.

Today we have here with us a person our dear teacher who has been like a mother and friend and guide to each one of us.

We are all gathered here with hearts full of gratitude to felicitate her. Dear teacher, we your students are indeed proud of your achievement. We are immensely privileged to share with you the joy of you being selected as the best teacher.

There are three things I wish to highlight this evening.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

One, your commitment to excellence. There is nothing that you do that is not stamped with your passion for making the best efforts possible.

Two, your depth of knowledge. There is a welcome freshness to your class each day. We are left yearning for more when the bell rings to signal the end of class.

Three, your personal touch in our lives. You had a gentle word of encouragement to each one of us when we were down. For all our little heartaches, you had time to listen to us. More than what you have taught us, it is the fact that you cared that has touched us.

Above all this we all know that you are a loving wife and an affectionate mother. We are happy that you have found a work-life balance that has given us such a wonderful teacher in you.

There is much more to say. But some things remain etched in memory when it is short and sweet.

So let me wish our very dear teacher many more awards and recognitions in the years ahead.

Let me conclude.

Someday in the future you will have the joy of finding each one of us come back to you with stories of how you influenced, moulded, inspired, and motivated us to excel in life.

Some lamps are small but the flares they light can be seen miles around. Thank you dear teacher for lighting brilliant flares all around.

Professor Speaks at the Meeting to Felicitate Rankholders

Respected dignitaries on the dais, colleagues, parents, the rank holders and dear students.

A timely word is a treasure that is wrapped in timeless memory .

We are gathered here to celebrate the achievement of these seven young minds who through their persevering effort has won personal distinction as well as accolades for our Institution. Their truly deserving achievement reminds us of Napoleon’s words, “Victory belongs to the most persevering.”

Though it is only (Name), who was my student in English Literature, the rank holders from other Departments of this College are known to me as well.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Some of them have overcome a variety of difficult situations and have come out with flying colours. On this joyful occasion, let me remind just three things.

First of all, not all but only very few have the privilege of studying in a college. And you have set yourself apart from that elite group and have carved a niche for yourselves as rank holders which will always be etched in golden letters in the annals of our history. So be thankful to God, to your parents, to your teachers and all those who supported you so that this achievement was made possible.

Secondly, there is a principle in life that the more you give, the more you are able to receive and still keep on giving. As you walk out of this Campus today, think how much the time you had spent here influenced and impacted you. Think about it not just in terms of knowledge gained but more in terms of relationships, the wisdom of life lessons, the guidance and encouragement of teachers and the value of the brand identity of this prestigious institution you now call your Alma Mater. Think about what you can give back to this Institution and the community at large. From now on, it is a time to give back and gift back in multiplied measure all that you got from here.

Finally, your achievement shows all the others especially the students who will be appearing for their final examinations this year that beginning well is good and important; but greater still is the art of finishing well. Lot many of youngsters today lack this determination. My dear students determine to finish well and finish strong in life. Your ability to dream of great achievements is important, but greater still is the will to win and the discipline to achieve it. It is this burning desire that will bring you success in the end as has been shown by these seven brilliant minds.

I take this opportunity to wish each one of the seven rank holders God’s very best. May life unfold for you in all its loveliness, may you find greater success in all that is to come, and may you find greater meaning and purpose as you contribute to society through your work and career in later years.

On behalf of this college community, the management, the principal, the teachers, parents and students, I once again congratulate you on your achievements and wish you all success. Thank you for accepting our invitation and being present for this meaningful and august felicitation meeting. Let this be not an end but a beginning; let the journey continue; and may you find new knowledge, new avenues of service, new opportunities for growth and may you find success in all your endeavours.
Thank you.

Head Girl of School Proposes Vote of Thanks at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations

Respected dignitaries on the dais, beloved teachers, dear parents and students,

Good evening to one and all.

We have just witnessed a magnificent display of talent by the students of our school. It is most fitting that such a variety of cultural events showcased the splendid history of the last 25 years of our school on this concluding programme of the Silver Jubilee Anniversary Celebrations.

As the head girl of this school it is my honour and privilege to propose the vote of thanks.

First of all, let me thank our Principal. Sir, the words of wisdom you shared with us today will remain in our hearts for the rest of our lives. You have challenged us to discipline ourselves to succeed in life and not to lose our human touch in the process of doing so.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

I am sure this light you have lit this evening will blaze on in the lives of all the students gathered here. Thank you very much.

The Guest of honour today, [name], is one among us, who started dreaming sitting on the benches of the classrooms here. It is not often that students get a chance to listen to eminent persons like you. You have exemplified through your life what it means to fight against disabilities, and live without complaining about difficult circumstances in life.

Your enthusiasm is contagious. What touched our hearts this evening is your bold fight against gender discrimination and harassment of women in the workplace. Your words have inspired all the girl children in our school to be aware of their rights and privileges; and to have courage to speak out against injustice. Pledging our support to all your work on women empowerment; a big thank you for your gracious presence with us this evening.

Today we were blessed to have the megastar of [name] Malayalam movies as our celebrity guest. Well, we have seen so many of the wonderful characters you portrayed so well on the silver screen. For most of us, it was the first time, we got to see you so close. Your unassuming nature surprised us.

More importantly, it was your candid talk with us about how social media with its instant messaging has entangled men and women, teens and young adults in a web of wrong relationships that has set us thinking. Thank you for your concern for us to stay pure and safe in the virtual world.

Now it is time to say thanks to our beloved teachers. What can I say!

Without your support, your care and concern for us, your constant endeavours to bring out the best in us, your instilling in us a sense of values and priorities in life, your teaching us the importance of managing time, and above all your being with us for any help that we needed; all this above and beyond what you teach from text books; yes, all these and more have made our life in this school the happiest and most meaningful period of our lives.

In a big way, more than words can say, from the depths of our hearts and with due respect, thank you all our beloved teachers.

A word about our parents gathered for this ceremony this evening. Your coming here, your presence with us means a thousand times more than all the expensive gifts you could have given us. For all your love and care, for all the sacrifices made to educate us in the best school in this part of the world, for gifting us with dreams and possibilities, a big thank you.
We assure you that nothing of what you have done for us will ever go wasted.

It is time to say goodbye. The Silver Jubilee celebrations of our school comes to an end; but the legacy lives on.

What has been achieved will be written in golden letters in the annals of our history; but what is yet to come will surpass all that in its magnitude, in its brilliance, and in its reach.

To all who came to witness this event, to all those who wished our school good luck on this momentous occasion, to all who toiled day and night to make the Silver Jubilee celebrations unforgettable, thank you once again.

Finally I thank God Almighty for showering his blessing upon today’s function.

As the star studded skies on this black velvety night twinkle in euphoric delight,
Wishing you all good night, sweet dreams and radiant memories.
Thank you one and all.

A Short Speech for School Children on Time, Space, and Eternity!

Life is
limited by time,
happening in space,
and destined for eternity.

Let me explore Time, Space, and Eternity one by one.

First of all Time is the stuff life on earth is made of. Though 24 hours is equally made available to all, the length of years one lives is beyond the scope of man to determine.

Time given is best utilized when one realizes that life has a purpose on earth and it has been God-ordained.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Secondly, Space is the platform on which life happens. Earth is just a tiny speck of dust; a blue and white jewel in the endless galaxies and stellar regions of space.

The stars shining at night are a constant reminder that life on earth is no accident and it has been God-designed in wisdom and sustained by his mighty power!

It is when you think of the vastness of space and its endless wonders that you cannot but exclaim with the Hebrew poet, “What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?”*

Thirdly, God has set eternity in the hearts of men. Death is by no means the end of life.

It just reminds us that we are accountable to God for all our thoughts, words and deeds. There is definitely a judgment day.

Life becomes meaningful when it is lived in the perspective of eternity. What determines the quality of life in eternity are the choices we make here and now.

Life we live on earth is just a preparation; and what we sow here is reaped for ever and ever.

Let me conclude. In the light of what was spoken about Time, Space, and Eternity, go throw a pebble into the still waters of a pond and see what happens!

Isn’t there more to life than what you have seen so far? Truly,

“No eye has see,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him.”

Inspirational Meet the Candidate Election Campaign Speech for the Post of Editor of College Magazine

Red Lighted Candles Christmas GiftMy dear friends,

The moment has finally come when you are called to act. It is not to do something great the call is; but just to exercise your rightful duty.

First, let me do a little bit of straight talk. You are given this time and opportunity to cast your vote. But before you decide it doesn’t matter; let me ask you, “What if all think likewise and stay at home instead of coming to cast your votes tomorrow?”

Blood Jesus Cleanse

I know that your excuses are genuine. It is the rainy season and travelling in the cold moist weather is not pleasant. Maybe your thought is that it is Friday tomorrow; and if you choose to stay home you get an extended weekend. I agree to both those arguments.

But give me a minute before you make a final decision.

See friends, it is not a matter of winning or losing. It is about understanding that each one of you is significant. You will not come to know the power of your right to vote until your best candidate loses the election by just one vote!

Again, the right to vote, especially that of women, came about after a lot of struggle. Every single time you fail to vote you are counting the sacrifices made for obtaining this right as nothing.

Now that you know you cannot and should not miss your privilege to vote, let me ask again, “What is a college magazine all about?”

Is it just a report about activities in a year? Is it just about certain articles contributed? Or interviews with celebrities? Is it just about photographs? No. No. No. Not at all.

My friends, a college magazine is about memories. It is about nostalgia. It is the treasured collection of the most colourful, vibrant, and never-to-return time of your life. It will carry the whisper of the breeze as you sat chatting under the cool of the trees, it will have the dynamics of debates that sparked fire, it will hold the thrilling sensation of arts, cultural events and sports.

Above all this, the college magazine that I have in mind will be a brilliant display of the finest kind of student-teacher cooperation, team play, and coordinated effort for which our Campus is uniquely known for.

This is what I promise you. Some 20 years from now as you flip through the pages you will walk through the beloved corridors here, and of Time as well. Well, for those of you who love the digital version; it will be more of like an emotionally charged live revisit to your most loved alma mater.

So cast your precious votes in my favour. My worthy opponent has made tall claims to be elected. He deserves a chance. But did he deliver last year? He was elected the arts club secretary; wasn’t he? We expected much, but it all came to nothing. Except a delayed and ill-timed inauguration there was just nothing. Do you want to vote him back to power again?

My dear friends tomorrow is your opportunity to vote for change. Let history record a massive turnout. Your confidence in me will be amply rewarded.

So friends, do not forget my name. I am no stranger to you. In all your moments of ecstasy, and in times of struggle I have been with you. You know that I have not run away from challenges; nor from standing up for your rights in your moments of disagreement with the management.

Do vote for change. With each vote in my favour, you will have the immense satisfaction of having made possible the most fantabulous magazine of our college ever. Thank you.

Delight Hearts with This Inspiring Birthday Speech

Life is forward. And birthdays are milestones along the journey. It reminds us that the gift of life is God-given; to be cherished, valued, and kept as a sacred trust.

Birthdays also are reminders. It tells us that time is ticking on. It does not stop for anyone. A birthday thus becomes a snapshot of a good moment, a tiny speck in the passage of time. It is a day you can feel special; which you truly are.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Birthdays remind us to be thankful. Each birthday you celebrate is a time to thank God for bringing you thus far.

And it is also an opportunity to take stock of all that is past, correct mistakes, and move on with hope.

Yet again, birthdays tell us how special our loved ones are. In fact it is our family and friends who share our joy with us. It is definitely our loved ones who make birthdays special.

So also the gifts they bring. We often remember with love and gratitude the people who gave gifts to us on our birthdays.

Most of these gifts are carefully chosen, sacrificially given, and lovingly gifted not only to express their heart to you but also to let you know how valued to them you are.

To put in a final thought, birthdays tell us that life can never be truly estimated or measured in years. The length of time lived rarely is an indicator of how well it was lived.

Therefore, may each birthday find you with a stronger resolve to live your life with purpose.

On behalf of friends and family and all gathered here, let me wish you a wonderful birthday with God’s blessings accompanying throughout the coming year!

Coach Says Goodbye! An Emotional Farewell Speech!

This is a moment I knew would come. It tells me that my memorable innings here as Coach is coming to an end.

I am thankful to God to have led such a talented team on this journey of transformation. This change was never easy. It challenged my abilities to the limit and tested my perseverance to the breaking point.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

As I look back I see that this journey was a learning process not only for you; but more so for me. I learned to be more compassionate even when making no compromise on matters of discipline. And let me tell you, that balancing act was never easy.

At the early stages of my tenure here, many of you did not believe that you had the potential to be winners. Instead you mirrored what your critics said. You voiced aloud the negatives that others whispered in your ears. But soon you learned to shut your ears to all that and focus on just winning and nothing else.

Now it is time to say goodbye. Some things in life are not decided by logic, but by the dictates of the heart.  Today I step down because I know with certainty that you can go ahead without me.
And now I get time to spend with my wife and kids. After having taught you to be the best how can I fail to set you an example in the arena where I cannot afford to lose?

The band is playing; the flags are fluttering; and kids are playing football here in the ground. But to me, it is time to walk away; to say goodbye with the knowledge that I have done my best; and by the grace of God have brought to the limelight a few who otherwise would have dwelt in the shadows; undiscovered and not valued.

So with a thankful heart, let me say goodbye. It breaks my heart to think that I will not walk with you one more time to these grounds that holds so precious memories to me. But that is how life is. The show has to go on; the torch has to be passed, and new leadership has to take over.

Thank you one and all for all the support you gave me over the years.

So You’re Graduating!

Respected Principal, dignitaries on the dais, and dear graduating students,

I am very happy and privileged to be part of your graduating ceremony. It brings back nostalgic memories to my heart as I think of that proud day when I stood where you are right now. Let me wish you all the best and thank the College Management who extended me the invitation to be here today.

Now let me share with you some thoughts on graduation day that I hope will help you in your career ahead.

There are milestones in life that we all cherish and draw inspiration from. Today is such a significant day in your life’s journey. You are about to step out into a future with many unknowns but holding unlimited possibilities and potential.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

First and foremost have a thankful heart towards God who brought you this far in life. Be thankful for so many people–your parents, teachers, friends and many others whose positive influence, knowledge and encouragement made this day happen for you.

From now on it is a gifting back to society; a time to shine the light for those who follow; for those who need a word of encouragement; and for those who want to know that what they dream of can be done.

Now let me leave you with three thoughts that can shape your life, career and destiny ahead.

First of all, think about excellence.

I would like to bring to your attention what Vince Lombardi the legendary coach in American football said: “The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavour.”

Excellence does not come easily to anyone.
It comes through pushing yourself beyond your limits every time you perform.
It comes through persevering in the pursuit of your goals.
It comes from getting up from where you lie wounded to fight one more round.

So commit yourself to excellence. It is a decision that can change your life and career dramatically. When you are thus committed and excellence becomes a habit in all that you do; those who come to contact with you will respect you.

Secondly, think about professionalism.

What is it all about? It is a mix of many things. It is about unending enthusiasm for work. It is about attention to small details. Again professionalism is having integrity and honesty in your life and work. It is the ability to step beyond doing your duty just for the sake of pay cheque.

Professionalism is again about teamwork. You may not find everyone you work with pleasant or having the same likes and dislikes you have. It is your ability to get along with them and work in harmony that is going to make even dull routines come to life. So learn to cultivate the ability to get along with people.

And never forget to smile. Make happiness go around. Be at your best every day. Manage your personal struggles and domestic difficulties so that it never affects your work. To wrap it up, professionalism is your ability to inspire confidence in others by the way you think, communicate, work and behave.

Thirdly, think about work-life balance

So far I have been talking about your career alone. Let me now say something about how to live a beautiful life before I conclude. Today so much is being spoken about achieving work-life balance. And it is indeed an important subject indeed.

You should never forget your families as you build your career. Hold on to the right priorities. As Jesus Christ pointed out in the Sermon on the Mount, Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all the material things you need in life shall be given to you as well.*

So the simple starting point is “God first.”
The second in the list is “Family.”
And “Work” is the third component.

If these three come in the right order, it is not difficult to achieve work-life balance. Remember if the canvas is not there; the painting ceases to be!

Conclusion
Now it is time to conclude. My dear students today you are graduating College. It means that you are about to give wings to your dreams. It means that you are ready to face the challenges ahead.

Each day would bring us new challenges. You need to remember that all your training here was to equip you to face the challenges of your work bravely. To your surprise you will find that many of life’s situations are those your text books taught to you nothing about. But that is the way it is; and this where you seek wisdom from God to run life without derailing.

So do not run away from duty, but take up your responsibilities with courage. And if you ask me what courage is, it is not the absence of fear. But it is the ability to do right in spite of whatever is terrifying you.

So my dear graduating students, you now stand on the shore ready to go on a journey into the unknown. Congratulations graduating class and may you find your hands steady at the wheel even when the ship pitches and rolls.

And never forget the three things I shared today with you:
Strive after excellence;
demonstrate professionalism;
and balance work and life well. Thank you.

An Inspiring Speech for the Candle Lighting Ceremony at College of Nursing

Red Lighted Candles Christmas GiftWe are all familiar with beginnings. They can be small steps but its impact can be experienced in giant leaps. Today graduates of this Institution of Nursing are making a new beginning through the lighting of candles. It is a symbolic act of the light that shines within your hearts.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

First of all the light that shines is a reminder of the darkness outside.
We live in a world where human rights are being violated.
We live in a world where the elderly are being forgotten.
We live in a world where children make friends through social media rather than face to face.

It is in this context that we need to understand our role in the nursing profession. We need to have a big picture of the suffering of people. It is not just physical illness that troubles people. More often it is the loneliness and the feeling of being deserted by friends and family that hurts people more.

So first of all we need to realize that there is darkness out there and we are called to shine our little lights in this darkness.

Secondly, the light that shines speaks about hope.
We are called to do little acts of kindness which kindle hope in the heart of a patient.
It can be a smile.
It can be a kind word of encouragement.
It can be a timely help.
Or it can even be a pat on the shoulder or holding hands for a moment.
Yes, God has chosen you to be angels of encouragement.
Dag Hammarskjold the former UN Secretary General said,
“Constant attention by a good nurse may be just
as important as a major operation by a surgeon!”

So my dear graduates, today you are stepping into a new role. You are going to carry with you a ray of hope wherever you go even when life gets too busy and personal difficulties crowd out your day.

Finally, the light that shines is about burning out for others.
There is without doubt a selflessness in the profession of nursing. We are called to put others first. “As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” In those words of the famous author Maya Angelou we have a guideline for your life’s work.

Today, we are lighting the lamp. In doing so, we also remember Florence Nightingale, The Lady with the Lamp, who gave nursing such a highly favourable reputation.

Let me sum up.

The light that shines talks about three things.
One, it is a reminder of the darkness outside.
Two, it speaks about hope.
Thirdly and finally, the light that shines is about burning out for others.

My dear graduates I take this opportunity to wish you the very best in your academics and in your nursing career. Let the beginning that you make today always inspire you to cherish and uphold the values and traditions of the nursing profession.

Remember what Jesus Christ said,

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

As far as you are concerned the light that shines is not about the pay cheque you take home; it is more about the countless number of lives of individuals and families you touch every day. It is about hope and cheer, of comfort and strength; a restoring of health and wholeness. May God give you wisdom and strength and the resolve to be such angels of encouragement. May people find heaven very near in you!

Bishop Jesudasan–A Short Speech of Tribute

Bishop Jesudasan during prayer. 10th September 2008.

The afterglow of glorious sunsets colour the horizon with flaming hues. One such life remembered today is that of Late Most Rev. Dr. I. Jesusdasan, former Moderator of the Church of South India.
He was someone called by God to leadership from very humble beginnings in life. His life was characterized by simple living, absolute trust in God, and integrity in speech and action. His life was deeply rooted in God’s Word, saturated by prayer, and spreading everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ.

യേശുദാസൻ തിരുമേനി: ദൈവവിളിയോടു വിശ്വസ്‌തത പുലർത്തിയ എളിയ ദാസൻ
His heart was always with the poor and the downtrodden, the marginalized and the suffering. He was gentle like a lamb when he dealt with the common man, rose in stature and towered mightily when he interacted with leaders, and thundered like a lion for the cause of social justice. Able to rise above partisan politics and interests; the unity of God’s people was always his utmost priority. He made deep impact in the theological world with his speeches and writings; the result of his years of meditating on God’s Word.

Bishop Jesudasan giving the benediction.

One of the crowning moments of his illustrious career came when the London Missionary Society celebrated the 200th year of its founding. Among the three speakers of the day he was the one representing Asia; the other two being Queen Elizabeth, and Bishop Desmond Tutu; representing Africa.

He enjoyed a personal relationship with many political leaders and never used those connections for personal gain but always for the common good. Always encouraging; he left an indelible mark in the minds of all those he interacted with.

He spoke to God in simple words with the certainty that he was heard. His theology was centred around the cross of Christ and he spoke of the sacrifice of Jesus as the light of God’s love that God caused to shine through his Son Jesus on the cross.

What you remember most about this great leader of men is his gentle smile, his being approachable by all, his prayers for those in suffering and pain, and the presence of God he brought along with him. Bishop Jesudasan was in all respect a servant leader with a shepherd’s heart for the poorest of the poor–a man who had passed through personal sorrow and became a channel of strength, godly counsel, and comfort to others.

Truly missed; but not forgotten, he many years after his home call still is looked upon with utmost respect, love and admiration. Like a bright star in the black night sky, his life lived with purpose and faithfulness to his calling will continue to shine its light for many more years to come.

Compere to Introduce Jesus of Nazareth

Bethlehem.
Nazareth.
Galilee.
And Jerusalem.

Here is a man whose life and work mostly revolve around these historical places.
He was cradled in a manger in a tiny village in Bethlehem when Augustus Caesar ruled mighty Rome.

He was raised up as a carpenter; a man earning his daily bread in a poor home in Nazareth; a place of relative insignificance.

He calmed the stormy winds and waves of the Sea of Galilee with just his word, “Quiet! Be still!”

He preached with authority; healed the sick; cast out demons; fed thousands miraculously, and raised the dead to life. He was hungry and thirsty and slept when tired like any one of us. He was moved with compassion and wept when he saw human sorrow.

But the light in his life, darkness and evil forces could not tolerate. He, the Innocent One, was betrayed by his friend with a kiss; and even when found not guilty of any crime was crucified like a criminal on top of a hill called The Place of the Skull outside the City of Jerusalem.

There he bled and died; and left his tomb empty the third day. He lives for ever.

While on earth, he was God in human flesh; made common like you and me. He was tempted like all; but never ever even once did he cross the boundaries in thought, word, or deed. Therefore, he is moved with compassion when you cry out; “Lord, have mercy on me a sinner.” For he understands what you pass through. His love for you is steadfast and everlasting even when you fail dismally.

When you turn and come back even after wasting your life in wild living, he welcomes you to the presence of God. He will not accuse; nor does he find fault with you. “My friend, do you love me?” is the only question he asks. And that can break even a heart of stone to bitter tears.

In him and his poured out blood on the cross is found the forgiveness of your sins. From Bethlehem to Nazareth to Galilee to Jerusalem; his story therefore did not end in despair; but in one brilliant sunrise of hope for all: eternal life for all those who repent of their sins and believe in him; yes, for you and me.

He was before Time and remains the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Introducing the Man like none else, incomparable and above all; Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Son of God, Saviour, and Judge of all the earth; the Man of sorrows and familiar with pain; now crowned in heaven the King of Kings and Lord of Lords for ever and ever!

A Simple Wedding Felicitation Speech

This is a day both of you have waited for long. And we are glad to be here, most of us virtually, to witness you being joined together as husband and wife.

Congratulations! May God be your stay and strength, your joy and hope. May he bless you with love for each other that ever increases like a stream that into a mighty river swells and flows.

There are many gifts that each one of you have received in life but none surpasses the gift of each other. So love, cherish, uphold and value this gift with real thankfulness in your heart.

I wish you joy and the ability to make music out of the discord and dissonance that will naturally arise. Two simple things that will keep you afloat and in harmony are saying “Thank you” and “I am sorry” with genuine and sincere hearts often.

Each day rise up with the intent to add something more to make your relationship stronger, your affection for each other richer, and your togetherness sweeter.

Do not let the mobile screen take away from your valuable time together. Instead, may prayers for each other rise in your hearts–prayers that will bless, encourage and protect.

May you be blessed with long life together and may faithfulness to each other shield your married life from all storms that may arise.

Let me wish you the centuries old priestly blessing and conclude:
The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

Felicitation at a Christmas Carol Singing Competition

This night was heaven-breathed. I stand here to felicitate all the participating choirs. Your efforts have not only made this evening special but also brought near to us the joy of the first Christmas.

At a time when Jesus, who was born a child in a manger, is marginalized today during Christmas celebrations, your song selections–both traditional as well as contemporary–helped us to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

Let me congratulate all the winners. May this victory inspire you to make greater efforts to make harmony that will save the world from all dissonance of war, worry, and strife.

Those who did not make it need not lose heart. If your attempt to sing had made you realize the great hope that is held out to all mankind through Christmas; then it was all worthwhile.

I wish all of you a blessed Christmas. Indeed, God came near to us through Christmas. And in Jesus we have a trusted friend. He is our Saviour and Lord and worthy of our highest adoration and worship.

May the love of God and the gift of peace come to you as each one of you go back home tonight even as the heavenly melodies you heard continue to ring joyous bells of Christmas in your hearts.

Blessed Christmas once again even as all of us with prayerful hearts stand holding out lighted candles to sing together the most loved carol of all times, Silent Night, Holy Night!

What Better Hope in Life Do You Have Than This?

Sample Felicitation Speech at Youth Leadership Awards Function

Respected Chairman, Honoured Chief Guest, Dignitaries, Asia Pacific Region Youth Representative Elect Mr. …. , Office Bearers, and all delegates attending,

Good evening one and all.

I am privileged and excited to stand here in the midst of this exuberant ambience in this auditorium in the Lion City.

As I look around I see not just youthful faces but potential, diversity of talent with extraordinary drive, ambition, and above all commitment to excel.

Time flies. As I stand here memories flood my mind and there is a surge of emotions hitting me like wave after wave.

I remember distinctly an evening like this when I was elected to be the Asia Pacific Youth Representative thirty years ago in that august meeting held in New Delhi.

That night will always remain special in my mind. It was the first time a woman from India was selected to that post. It then created an increased interest among college students about the philanthropic activities of our Organization.

Tonight, let me congratulate the Elect Mr. . . . As all know he is no stranger to leadership. Right from school days he was a natural fit for leadership roles. Leader of his school, Magazine editor and later Chairman of his college union, he has set an enviable leadership track record.

With today’s oath taking, he is all set to shift gears on to a global stage. His vision about the contribution of youth in our Organization, his charismatic personality, individual talent, persuasive communication skills, extraordinary ability to get the momentum going in all initiatives will definitely set standards of excellence.

His declaration of policy tomorrow, I am sure, will find an eager and enthusiastic following.

On this momentous occasion, let me congratulate this young dynamic youngster doing his Master’s in Business Administration on his election. Let me, on behalf of all gathered here, and as the Senior President of the Asia Pacific region wish him all success.

I assure him off our prayers, cooperation and support.

Thank you one and all.

Tree

No one can forget the scene. On top a hill lifted up on a cross hung wounded and bleeding, Jesus, the Saviour.

You call him a good moral teacher, a divine healer, a great prophet, a worker of miracles or even a revolutionary. But this death he died for all mankind changed it all.

He came to take his cross and walk; and to be lifted high on it. Love then was on exhibit; naked and bleeding—a public spectacle!
Blood Jesus Cleanse

Why should it have been so? There is only one answer. God’s love for you on one side; and on the other side, God’s judgement on man’s sin and rebellion against him.

When you feel forsaken; one look of faith at him is enough. It was love that made him shed his last drop of blood for you.

Next time when you doubt God’s love for you; listen to the sound of nails pierce through and hit wood hard. All that then bled spelled LOVE for you!

His outstretched arms on the cross say to you, “Come to me, my child.” What a welcome it is to you. Do not doubt. Do not hesitate.

The precious and innocent blood that flowed from his broken body has purchased your pardon. It has wiped your past clean.

With one look of faith and love on him who was crucified and risen, you can pass on from death to life, from despair to hope, and from darkness to light.

This my friend is the magnetic pull of the cross! It then bled love, and now it spells LIFE for you!

2 Minute Graduation Speech

Respected Principal, dear colleagues, graduating students and others gathered over here, a warm good morning to one and all.

This is a defining moment in the life of each one graduating from our reputed College of Nursing. You added colour and variety to this institution and I can tell from experience that as a batch you have been really unique.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Not only were you good at academics you proved your mettle in all the co-curricular activities as well. In one word let me tell you, “Well done!”

The time has now come for you step out of this cosy nest and fly on your own. The training and discipline you got from this place will definitely carry you through. And when you feel overwhelmed by challenges know that God will carry you in his everlasting arms spread underneath you.

On behalf of the entire College community I wish you all the best for your career ahead.

At the same time, I would like to leave with you three words. Vision, Hope, and Courage. These three words are like three pillars of strength that will hold you strong throughout your life and career.

First of all, let me talk about vision.

We belong to the great tradition lighted by Florence Nightingale, the lady with the lamp. It was her vision that gave rise to modern nursing care. This was later given greater breadth and scope in India by people like Dr. Ida Scudder who paved the way for women empowerment and a great institution like CMC Hospital Vellore. You too are part of this vision—the vision of being called to serve.

Carry this vision forward and know that your work will be rewarded someday.

Secondly, let me talk about hope.
Each one of you is called to gift hope to people. There is no other group of professionals to whom others look with expectation more than the nursing community. This is because we are the people who bring cheer and hope when everything looks difficult and dark for the patients and their bystanders as well.

Therefore let us never forget to smile and do our work cheerfully even when we are hard pressed on every side.

My final word is courage.
Each day would bring us new challenges. You need to remember that all your training here was to equip you to face the challenges of your work bravely. So do not run away from duty, but take up your responsibilities with courage. And if you ask me what courage is, it is not the absence of fear. But it is the ability to do right in spite of whatever is terrifying you.

Therefore be bold even when you are meek, assertive even when you are humble, daring even when all others shrink back in fear.

So my dear graduating students, you now stand on the shore ready to go on a journey into the unknown.
Hold on to your vision, gift hope to others along the way and stand with courage in spite of all fear.

I wish you all success. And I hope the day will soon come when others will tell us about you—angels of encouragement, pure in heart and true in deeds—the shining ambassadors of our College community.
Yes, dear students, go as angels of encouragement and make this earth a better place for the entire human race. Thank you.

College Union Inauguration Speech

Respected teachers and my dear students,

Each year brings new opportunities and responsibilities. Today we are witnessing an emotional moment when members of the Students Union are assuming office. The torch of excellence for which our Institution is known for has been passed on to them. Now what is so special about it?

Blood Jesus Cleanse

It is special because the making of the most colourful moments of Campus life have been entrusted by the majority to a select few. So it is a time for them to see possibilities ahead. It is time for them to dream and work hard to make them come real. And we are gathered here to unite and rally behind them and offer them our whole-hearted support and encouragement to them. Members of the Student Union, We do this with all our heart!

I would like to bring to your kind attention 3 watchwords: They are
Focus,
Leadership, and
Action.

Let me take a few moments to highlight them for you.

As we think about focus, let us think about a man going to forest to shoot bears. As he goes inside with his loaded gun, he sees rabbits and is excited to see them run. So he shoots them as they are easy targets. But at the end of the day he comes home without having shot a bear because he did not focus on his real target.

So dear friends, if you plan to do something big this year for the welfare of the students focus sharply on that one thing. Do not get distracted by small rabbits. Or think about light. What power it has when it is concentrated like a laser beam. It can cut through the toughest materials. Simply because light is made to intensely focus on an object.

So let your first watch word be focus.

Secondly we come to leadership. Traditionally we understand leadership to mean someone in a place of authority. Dear friends let us redefine leadership. Instead of thinking of leadership as a position, think of it as influence. What is the influence you have on your community as a professional or even as an individual? Is it positive? Are you ready to become the salt of the earth giving taste by its influence and preserving the moral fabric of society?

Let me cite an example. Think about Yousuf Malala. I hope all you are familiar with her face. The 2013, 2014 and 2015 issues of Time magazine featured Malala as one of “The 100 Most Influential People in the World.” This teenage girl has influenced the world not because of any position she held but the courage she showed in the midst of great difficulty.

So let your second watchword be Leadership through influence.

Now it is time to look at the last watchword. It is Action. No amount of planning is going to do wonders if it is not acted upon. And taking action inspires others to follow your example. Let me ask you how many of you would like to walk the street at night when the street lights are not shining? Not me, not you! But how did the practice of street lighting begin? It was the example of one man who took action to light a lamp to dispel darkness.

Sir Benjamin Franklin lived in the city of Philadelphia. He was the postmaster there. One day he hung a lighted lantern in front of his home to dispel some darkness and cheer travellers at night. After a few days, some of his neighbours followed his example and soon the city of Philadelphia was bathed in light at night.

Thus one man’s action and example influenced an entire city. So do not plan for ever. Take bold and decisive action. Others will follow your example.

Let me conclude:

Forget your differences and unite with one heart and mind to make this year one of the most memorable and colourful of your Campus Life ever. Remember after you leave this place, you have only nostalgic memories to hold on to.

Take to heart the three watchwords I spelled out for you. Stay focused. Strive for leadership through influence. And take decisive and bold action and others will follow your good example.

In this way you can be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. There is no greater calling in your profession than this. I wish this Students Union God’s blessings and all success. Thank you.

College Day Felicitation Speech

Respected Chairman of the meeting, Chief Guest of the Day, other dignitaries on the dais, my beloved colleagues and dear students,

There are special moments and occasions in the life of every community that brings people together. Today is one such day when we remember the past one year and all the good things that came along with it.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

First of all let me congratulate all the organizers and participants of the week long celebrations and competitions concluding with the College Day. In today’s world marked by cut-throat competition, our festivities have fostered good will and sportsmanship among all.

It reminds us once again that in the final analysis it is not how many goals you scored or how many trophies you won that counts; but the spirit with which you played the game.

So winners and losers don’t matter;but what matters is how you enriched this community to have yet another bouquet of cherished memories this year. I salute all the players from staff and students who made this possible.

Secondly, College Day reminds us of what this Institution stands for. We stand for the best in academics and for unending pursuit of excellence. We uphold the value of love transformed into service and deeds of kindness. We try our best to shine a light in this world’s darkness in the hope that some poor soul somewhere may find comfort, joy and cheer.

College day reminds us of all these and above all it also is a reminder that yet another year is passing. That means we need to count our days and pray to God Almighty for wisdom to plan how to best utilize the limited time on earth that he has gifted to us.

So let me wish all of you present here the opportunity to leave your signature in the annals of our college history. I wish to remind you that however small your role here was, not one of you is insignificant. Not one of you is forgotten. You have contributed to this college in a very special way. On behalf of our Principal and all the management and staff, I wish each one of you the very best.

Even though our past is golden and our achievements are decorated with precious stones of many colours; I still believe that the best is yet to be! Let tomorrow dawn with better hopes and better dreams. Yes, we shall overcome some day, oh deep in my heart, I do believe, we shall overcome some day. Thank you.

A Christmas Message for School Children

Respected Principal, honoured guests, beloved teachers, and my dear friends,

Good morning to one and all.

Let me first of all thank God as well as the Principal of the School for giving me this opportunity to speak to you on Christmas. I wish to talk to you about the meaning of gifts during Christmas.

Christmas is a beautiful time of the year when family and friends come together. And gifts are exchanged. One group that is always excited at Christmas are children. This is because children love gifts. They look forward to receive gifts during this time of the year. In fact, it is this sense of expectation that makes Christmas special.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Let me tell you how gifts can make Christmas special. There was a lovely young husband and wife who were poor. Both of them, Jim and Della, loved each other dearly. As Christmas came near both of them secretly thought about gifting each other with a lovely Christmas gift. But they did not have much money.

Della had long and beautiful hair. So Jim thought of buying her a beautiful hair clip. Della saw that the strap of Jim’s watch was broken. So she thought of buying him a watch strap. And on Christmas Eve both of them wished each other Happy Christmas and gave the gifts to each other.

But children there were tears in both their eyes. Do you know why? It was because Della had cut her long hair and sold it to get money to buy Jim a watch strap. And Jim had sold his watch to buy Della a hair clip.

This spirit of sacrifice is the true meaning of Christmas as this classic short story from O. Henry highlights. Likewise, it was not easy for God to send his Son Jesus to this world. It was a sacrifice. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Therefore let us celebrate Christmas by thanking God for his indescribable gift—the gift of God’s Son Jesus!

Remember my dear children; he came just for you and for me!

Let me also tell you the story of a young boy who was an orphan. He was poor. During Christmas time he used to go to the street and watch the lovely gifts displayed inside shops. He would press his nose against the glass to have a closer look.

But he was sad because there was no one to give him a gift. One day, he saw a small cat on the road. He also saw a car coming against it. On seeing this the boy jumped in front of the car and saved the cat. But the car hit him. And he was taken to hospital.

There was a good nurse who took care of him. On Christmas day she gifted him with a toy. The boy opened the packet and found a toy train inside it. The nurse asked him, “Do you like it?”

The boy with great joy cried out: “There is no glass between.” Saying so he put the toy train close to his heart. See how happy he was when he had a toy for himself.

Dear children, may God gift you with the real joy of finding Jesus this Christmas. So that you too can say with this boy, “Now there is no glass between;  I too have found the true joy of Christmas.”

Finally, during Christmas time we remember the journey of the Wise Men who came from far way to worship baby Jesus. They had seen a star and travelled from far away to meet Jesus. And when the star led them to Jesus, they gave gifts of gold and myrrh and incense to Jesus. That is why in remembrance of their act of worship we also give gifts to each other during Christmas.

So think about it. When you meet Jesus, what will be the gift you wish to give him? I am sure Jesus will be happy to see your love towards him more than anything else. So try to love Jesus more this Christmas.

Wish all of you a blessed Christmas and a prosperous new year. Thank you.

Farewell Speech on the Retirement of Principal of an Institution

Red Lighted Candles Christmas GiftRespected Principal, dignitaries on the dais, distinguished guests, members of faculty, non-teaching staff and students,

In this beautiful season of Christmas, where all hearts are filled with hope and joy; I stand here with mixed emotions. On the one side there is a sense of sadness that our Principal is leaving us. On the other hand there is this awesome responsibility I face that of stepping into her shoes. Both the leaving and the taking make this a moment a difficult one indeed.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

At this time I recall the poem by P. B. Shelley titled Ozymandias. It talks about a king who made monuments and statues of himself. But as years passed by they were all destroyed and buried in the vast endless desert sands.

Unlike this king some others leave their legacy in the hearts of people which is never destroyed. Such a person has been our Principal. She has scripted love and enduring respect in the hearts of all those who came in touch with her. Unlike buried monuments of stone what she has authored in our hearts will live on.

And as spoken in a famous movie*,

“Look around you. There is not a life in this room that you have not touched, and each one of us is a better person because of you.”

Yes, one of the greatest lessons you have shown us is that you cared for all of us. Therefore you earned the trust and respect of all who came into contact with you.

The respect you showed to each one of us, your willingness and eagerness to involve us in taking major decisions are things that will be remembered. You were dedicated to your task, sincere to the core, simple in life, able to remain calm under pressure, and never yielding to anger.

You were not only able to improve results in all courses but also created a stress-free learning environment for students. You tried your best to improve the quality of faculty and encouraged their development through education and research.

Your student-friendly approach and your understanding of the background of each student showing extra concern for those having problems—both academic and personal—will be lovingly remembered for a long time to come. Your systematic approach to things and your emphasis on punctuality made working with you a pleasant experience.

With all my heart and with the blessings of all present here I wish you a contented and joyous retired life. May you find useful ways to engage yourself in the service of God and men in the days to come. Motivational Speech on Women Empowerment: Myth or Reality?

Love Loyalty Courage

Today, in contrast to the past centuries, we find women  literate, educated, and liberated to lead. We find their surge forward not only in the political front, but also in social life where they act as agents of change contributing  to economic development as well.

(Read this speech on LinkedIn: Women’s Day 2024 Release)
But first of all we need to understand what empowerment of women really means if we have to understand its impact.

Empowerment is about being given authority and power to do something.
Empowerment is about becoming stronger and confident.
Empowerment again means to become aware of one’s rights and privileges.
Empowerment also means the ability to control one’s life in a more meaningful and fulfilling way.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

The term empowerment naturally presupposes a sense of powerlessness; doesn’t it? Well, with women it has been rightly so. As we look back at the centuries we find many dark ages where women in different lands were suppressed, treated as commodities, with no voice in decision-making and no role in deciding how social and community life evolved. But empowerment of women made a radical change in the whole situation.

And  this change has come about not without its struggles and sacrifices, protests and conflicts. This transformation passed through many difficulties when those who led with a vision to emancipate women were often viewed with suspicion from within the ranks of women themselves and opposed by the male-dominated hierarchies. Even today there are ripples and reflections of these tendencies. One can never say the world has seen gender equality and rights of women championed in the fullest sense.

But change did come.  From powerlessness, women have come to recognize that they are individuals made in God’s image and likeness just like men; and are valuable and precious in God’s eyes. They have come to celebrate their differences from men not as a reason for subjugation, but as a joyous gift of God to give an active support and contribution to the family first, to the workplace next and the community at large in a broader sphere.

In all these areas women have risen to greatness and power by utilizing available resources and increasing their influence in the decision-making process. The key to this change has been literacy and education. Economic freedom came through women finding employment in different spheres like nursing, teaching, management, and the like. Today, women have made their presence felt in the field of police, defence, sports, space exploration,* research and development, social work, and many other fields as well.

But all this was not enough as they had to have a political empowerment which especially came through right for women to vote through some tough campaigning. Emmeline Pankhurst who helped women win the right to vote in Britain cannot be forgotten. Perhaps a day will come when the most awaited 33% reservation for women in the Indian Parliament would become a reality. If that happens it will be a grand day when the the voice of women will ring out more loud and clear in the central hall of the world’s largest democracy.

Personally, I have been motivated by many examples where empowerment of women is first of all felt by the masses through the vision of a pioneering lady.

Be it Florence Nightingale who made nursing into such a structured and noble profession,

Be it Ida Scudder who in response to witnessing three tragic deaths of women in childbirth in Tindivanam in a single night in the late 1890’s responded to the challenge and heard God’s call to become a missionary doctor and establish the reputed Christian Medical College (CMC Vellore, first started for women),

Be it Amy Carmichael, who dyed her skin with dark coffee to make her skin brown to gain access to and acceptance with young girl children and rescued hundreds of them from a life of forced prostitution in Dohnavur,

Be it Pandita Ramabai, a scholar in Sanskrit who saved the lives of thousands of women in famine struck times through her Mukti Mission in Pune; the list goes on.

Today, the need is to have women with such vision and burden for the upliftment of women.

There are countless examples in modern times; Malala Yousafzai is one young voice many listen to today. Her courage and words inspire; and she emphasizes the importance of education as a means of women empowerment.  As she said in an interview,

“The important thing to note is that it is not important whether Malala was shot or not — Malala is not asking for personal favors or support. She is asking for support with girls’ education and women’s rights. So don’t support Malala, support her campaign for girls’ education and women’s rights.”

I am sure there are several other names that come to your mind even as I speak. Indira Gandhi, Prathibha Patil, Rani Lakhsmibai of Jhansi, Kalpana Chawla, Indra Nooyi, Kiran Bedi, Arundathi Bhattacharya, Bachendri Pal, the list goes on.

If you recognized some of these names, it is simply because women have learned to lead, have challenged existing norms of society and have taken a proactive role in changing traditions and rewriting history. Surely, women empowerment is a reality; isn’t it? I am sure you are compelled to agree.

Now let me point out that social reformation alone is not just enough for women empowerment. The mind-set of society also has to keep pace. To ensure this transition, laws had to be enacted. Several laws have been enacted to ensure the safety and protection of women especially in the workplace.

But it is sad that there still needs to be a radical change in the way women are viewed in society. A women gets educated, earns a well-paid job and then suddenly finds herself being bargained for in the marriage market. This is sad and tragic. In this world of commercialization, women are in many places regarded as liabilities rather than as assets. This has to change if women empowerment has to become a reality in the fullest sense.

Finally, top leadership is something that women can aspire and reach to. But massive change for the empowerment of women has to begin and be sustained at the grass roots level. Assurance of employment, maintenance of good physical and emotional health should also be priorities as far as women empowerment is concerned.

Kudumbashree, a community organization of neighbourhood groups in Kerala started by the government in 1998 has proven itself as a successful model of women empowerment at the grass roots level. Such models need to be multiplied across different geographic regions across the world where there is a felt need for women empowerment.

Before I conclude, let me point out one more historical moment of women empowerment. When Jesus Christ rose from the dead; it was Mary Magdalene who had the privilege of seeing the Risen Lord first and had the unique distinction of being the first witness to the fact of his resurrection. This was her testimony: “I have seen the Lord!” the echoes of which still resonates in many millions of human hearts even after 2000 years of its happening.

But the point is that Jesus by allowing Mary Magdalene to be the first witness was empowering women for all time. This is stunning because Jesus did not reveal himself first to his inner circle of disciples who were all men and Jewish law did not permit women to be witnesses. And in that society, men usually prayed thanking God that they were not born as women. The way Jesus treated women with respect and dignity will always empower them to claim their rightful share not only in God’s kingdom but also in homes and workplaces; in politics and economics as well.

Two more new areas of women empowerment cannot be left unmentioned in this 21st century:

One is of women’s active presence in the social media. Several women needs and priorities have been brought to light through intense campaigning through the social media. This is powerfully used to promote a cause, share a story, change public perception and even prevent negative stereotyping of women.

The second area of women empowerment in the 21st century is the need to have a massive drive for bringing school and college students into sports and games and outdoor activities. This coming together will not only help teenagers gain self-confidence and esteem; but also increase their physical and emotional health.

Let me now confront some bitter truths. Women empowerment is definitely a reality today. But the question is, Is it enough? Is there more work to be done? Without doubt, there are many places where the voice of women is still not heard. Discrimination still exists and even in the Corporate world we talk about the glass ceiling. The media sensationalizes crime against women which is growing alarmingly.

Domestic violence, dowry, gender discrimination, continue to be evils of our times. Politics is still male dominated even when half the population is female. The dignity of women and their worth as persons and individuals is often tainted by wrong portrayals in movies, advertisements,  and even in beauty pageants. The lot of sales girls in ever growing super market outlets looks glamorous with their uniforms and dignity it seems to afford; but some serious study should be done as to how difficult their days are in spite of the smiles they gift us with. The list of negatives can go on.

But there is hope. The voice of women will still be heard loud and clear in spite of attempts to silence them. More stories of women empowerment are being scripted in every village and city not only in our state and nation but across the boundaries. It can very well be the transforming reality of the present. Thank you.

A Student’s Inspiring Election Campaign Speech for the Post of School Leader!

Red Lighted Candles Christmas GiftRespected Principal, Beloved Teachers and my dear friends,

A warm good morning to one and all.

Leadership is an opportunity to serve. It is with this vision I aspire to be your leader. If selected, I would love to lead by example not just in academic pursuits but in all co-curricular activities as well.

The focus of my talk this morning is about three R’s. They are
Reach,
Respect, and
Relationship.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

First of all let me talk about Reach.
Most of us have potential. And many of us have not discovered what it is all about. One of my first priorities will be to create opportunities for everyone to display their skills and talent. We cannot do it on our own. We need the guidance and support and encouragement of our teachers.

I am sure they will extend all possible help in this regard. In fact we are blessed to have the opportunity to study in this School which has always set standards of excellence not only in academic results but more importantly in student-teacher relationship.

The second thought I want to share with you is about Respect.
Why is this important? This is important because we live in a world where mind, muscle and money power rules. Human rights are constantly being violated. Intolerance between communities is growing. It is in this context that respect for others should be taught and understood and appreciated in our classrooms.

It is good to begin while we are young. I would like to create an atmosphere of respect in classrooms. We should learn to respect our parents, our teachers and elders. We should learn to respect the law of the land and be law-abiding citizens.

The third thought is about Relationship.
What is the point in studying in the same school and sitting on the same bench and not knowing what your friend’s difficulties in life are? We have become too selfish that we do not care for those who are hurting. So as your leader one of my priorities will be to create healthy relationships in classrooms thus paving the foundation of friendships that will last a lifetime.

This is very important because today children are spending more and more time with gadgets; chatting, gaming, and living in a virtual world. I wish that our students would spend more time in face to face interaction and joyful communication thus cementing good relationships.

So these are my main thoughts:
One, Let us strive to reach our full potential.
Two, Let us create an atmosphere of respect.
And three, Let us also try to build lasting relationships.

So I seek your cooperation. For nothing can be done by a leader alone. A leader is one who has a vision and has the ability to share it.

This I have done with all my heart!
Now it is your turn to respond to this vision.

As cricket commentators say, a captain can only be as good as the members of his team. No captain has succeeded without great team work. So I appeal to all of you my friends that we will achieve these goals through united effort, working hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder. Not one of you will be left behind.

Success to me is not one person achieving. Instead, it is about helping others achieve. It is about enabling others to realize their dreams. So let us begin to realize our full potential. Let us do this in an atmosphere of respect and sportsman spirit. In this process let us build lasting relationships.

Let me assure you my friends we are not going to be defeated, we will certainly win. And the beauty of the victory will be that we all shall win together and make our teachers and parents proud. So my dear friends, when you cast your votes remember me and my vision I have shared with you. Do cast your precious votes in my favour.

Reach, Respect, Relationship.
This is my vision, my dream and my goal. I cannot do it in my own strength but in the strength God shall provide. I cannot do it alone; we shall do it together. Thank you.

Christmas Is the Joy of Lost and Found! Is That Someone You?

Have you ever been lost somewhere in a crowd? And you had to wait anxiously for someone to come and find you out. Then you might have experienced the joy of someone coming in search of you and finding you.

What a relief to know that you were thought about and not forgotten. What a joy to know that someone cared. What good news is it to be reminded that you belong to someone.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

It is in this sense that Christmas is good news of great joy to all the people. It simply tells us that God remembers each one of us. It tells us that none of us is forgotten. It reminds us that in spite of all our failures, mistakes and sins; God is ready to clean up the mess. He is willing to dirty his hands to give us a new life in his Son Jesus.

This is the story of Christmas. This is the good news that God came down to us in Jesus Christ. He came as a baby; a child who came to sacrifice his life by shedding his blood on the cross for all mankind. Through this sacrifice, God is ready to forgive all who come to him and cleanse people of all sin and impurity.

No one is excluded from this joy. People of all tribes and nations, languages and cultures are welcome.

The true joy of Christmas is not in the festivity of the season. It is not to be found in gifts and stars, cake and wine, new dress and carols and Christmas trees and Christmas cards and Santa Claus.

But the true joy of Christmas is that a Saviour came. And it is good news of great joy because it is for all the people of the world. God’s search for the lost continues and it will not end until his love finds you and gifts you the joy of salvation today.

And when God finds you and saves you; joy erupts and explodes in heaven for Jesus said there is great rejoicing in heaven and in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. So my friend, is that someone you?

A Speech for School Children on the Problem of Stray Dogs

Dear Friends,

What is your stand on the problem of stray dogs? Let me assume that as an animal lover you would like to protect stray dogs. That is good. There is nothing wrong with such a stand for no one is advocating cruelty against animals.

Instead, my argument is that human life, created in the image and likeness of God the Creator, has far more dignity any day, anywhere, than all the animals of the world combined.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Now what is the cause of the problem of stray dogs? Several reasons have been suggested. One definitely is the improper disposal of garbage. Stray dogs are breeding in plenty because they get enough food in the streets. Some people even throw food to stray dogs on a regular basis. Isn’t this showing love without ownership or responsibility? What do you think?

Recently someone suggested that animal lovers should take responsibility for stray dogs. Either they should show their true love by at least taking one stray dog into their homes or finding common shelters for them. Or at least they should have the kindness to support the family of persons who have been bitten by stray dogs.

But what often happens is that in spite of the terror that people have passed through on account of stray dog bites, especially in a literate state like Kerala, animal lovers still raise their voices for stray dogs? Can people be blind to human misery like this? This is an extremely sad state of affairs!

Another idea that has been put forward to control stray dogs is the proposal to sterilize them. Many are arguing in favour of and against this as well. Whatever be the merit of the idea, one awful truth remains. If sterilized dogs bite, the bites are as painful and terror-striking as dogs that have not been sterilized.

Now let me conclude. Who is to blame? Is it the vaccine companies that are keeping alive the stray dogs so that their medicines can sell? Some argue like that. We do not know what the truth is. Do politicians who make the laws have a hidden agenda? Again, we do not know.

Now what is more important? Human life? Or the lives of stray dogs? If you are asked to vote for one of these, what will you choose? Human life? Or stray dogs? Think about it. How many more human beings have to be mercilessly bitten by blood-hunting stray dogs before the authorities will take action?

Compere Script for the Song Would You Be Free From the Burden of Sin

Red Lighted Candles Christmas GiftThe precious blood of Jesus which he shed on the cross of Calvary for the sins of all mankind has tremendous power.

First of all, it is the innocent blood of the Son of God, the sinless and holy One of God.

Secondly, this blood is the result of the perfect obedience of the Son and his submission to his Father’s will. And it is by this blood that God has opened a new way for us to approach his throne of grace with boldness and confidence.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Thirdly, there is cleansing and pardon for all our sins in this precious blood. Let us allow this cleansing fountain to flow over us; and in and through us, and allow God to purify us and cleanse us from all our sins.

Let us remember the slain Lamb of God and have great intimacy and friendship with God by his blood. For God draws near to us like no other time when we approach God by the blood of Jesus in our prayers.

Fourthly, the Book of Revelation says, “they overcame him* by the blood of the Lamb.” That means there is victory over sin and Satan, and protection and deliverance from all forces of evil and darkness in the precious blood of Jesus Christ, your Lord and Saviour.

Finally, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and his precious blood shed there is the ultimate answer to our pride. The blood of Jesus tells us that man cannot earn his salvation through any other means. Our salvation is not based on our merit or our goodness but it comes as a gift to us by God’s grace alone.

Yes, the blood of Jesus reminds us that we need a Saviour. It also tells us that the hope of life came to you and me by his costly sacrifice, bloody death and coming back to life from the dead.

May the blood of Jesus cleanse, purify, sanctify and make your heart as white as snow as you listen to this song and meditate on the power of the blood of the Lamb of God.

May you find reconciliation and peace with God; and forgiveness for all your sins, as you make the blood of the Lamb the basis of your prayers to the God of mercy, compassion and great tenderness.

Angels Seen Says Reporter

Imaginary reporting for TV Channel when Augustus Caesear ruled Rome:
Timeline: Between B.C. 6 and B.C. 4

“Angelic activity on a scale never known before was reported around midnight at the open fields outside Bethlehem. Shepherds taking care of their flocks were astonished and filled with fear as a glorious light shone around them.

But an angel of God, they said, announced to them that they need not be afraid as a child destined to be the Lord and Saviour of the world was born in the town of David. He assured them that is good news of great joy to all the people.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

It is amazing that a news that is so localized in the little town of Bethlehem has such global impact and appeal to all. Moreover a great heavenly choir of angels sang praises to God saying, “Glory to God in the highest and peace on whom his favour rests.’

Peace, it seems, shall come to us not through treaties made between nations but between God and man through the Saviour born a child–The Prince of Peace!

The good news so inspired the shepherds that they made haste to Bethlehem to see the humble child lying in a manger. It is reported that they are going around spreading the news. This is The Reporter for World News!”

“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.”1

“You are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”2
