Sunday Sermonettes | Glassdoor: The Bloody Spectacle of the Cross of Jesus

The cross of Jesus was not polished. It was not made of gold. But raw tree wood. A glassdoor look gives you a truthful view. The cross was splattered by his blood.

The life of Jesus ends with this crowning moment of glory. His shame, agony, and suffering on the cross. He was made a public spectacle. Crowds came to mock him and look on him with derision. No pity.

He became a gladiator in reverse. He entered the arena not with a sword to take a life, but to give his. He won by pouring out his own blood, by forgiveness.

You connect with him instantly today, this very moment, by looking to the dying Lamb of God on the cross.

There you find mercy and forgiveness. Love that does not condemn you. Love that truly looks at all the ugliness in you and still says, “You are mine.”

The tragedy of modern Christianity is that it has made the cross cheap. The blood of Jesus on the cross tells us that it cost God much. More than we will ever understand.

Jesus took the shame of the cross on himself. He died like a condemned criminal. All could see him in agony as clearly as you see through a glassdoor.

His blood has opened heaven’s door for you. Will you open the door of your heart to him?
