A Short Speech for School Children on How to Say NO to Suicide but YES to LIFE!

Life is God’s gift to you. Do not nip it in the bud.

Life might not have been fair to you. But that is not reason enough to take your own life.

You might have made mistakes. Yet when you choose to live, you get a chance to redeem those mistakes made. But if you choose to end your life that is the biggest mistake you can make. You cannot undo it.

If you think that people promised you love but instead treated you like a door mat; look around and find so many children who have got none to love them and none to call them their own. Go and show them true love which you never got in life.

Is your complaint directed against God? Do you say no one cares for you? It is because you have not yet called your Creator God, “Father!” He will not forsake you even if your father and mother forsakes you. Even if a mother forgets the baby at her breast and has no compassion on the child she has borne, God says, “I will not forget you!” He has loved you with an everlasting love. His unfailing love for you will not be shaken for he has compassion on you.*

Are you thinking about suicide because you think you are a failure? Wait a minute. You cannot be a player and the referee at the same time. How can you make a true assessment about yourself? You can be a failure before the world and still be the apple of God’s eye*–his darling!

Life is not given to you to float down on the waters like a dead twig. Fight back and win in life.

Have you faced rejection? Or unjust criticism? And you are hurt! Is it not because you issued a “Received with thanks'” receipt? Who asked you to accept the mud and garbage they hurled at you?

Did you fail in some exam or interview? A door shut in your face is not the end of opportunities nor is any failure final! You just need the guts to try again, and keep knocking at every door.

My dear friend, thoughts of suicide can attack you at any time; sometimes without any reason at all. What should you do then? Let me ask what you would you do if an ugly worm falls on you when you are standing under a tree? You will shake it away in disgust; won’t you?

Yes that is what you should do with all negative thoughts; always! Brush it away. Do not entertain it. Do not lovingly spread a bed for it. Instead, kick it out!

If you have a friend share your struggle with him or her. Accept their love and care. Never deceive yourself by thinking that no one cares.

My dear friend, you can come back from life’s defeats, loss of confidence and failures. Just hold on. “Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

Remember my friend, God loves you even if you don’t feel like it. Even when your problems seem so huge and unsolvable, he has a plan and purpose* for your life.

Sometimes you might have faced abuse, mental torture, and been the subject of jokes. You might be going through shame and guilt and feelings of worthlessness. Yes, I admit some memories are hard to erase. Yet what if you can have a brand new beginning* in life! Choose Life. My friend, that doesn’t mean life is going to be easy, but life will be meaningful.
Always say NO to suicidal thoughts but say YES to Life!

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — Jesus Christ (John 10:10, 11; 14:6 Bible NIV).
