Sunday Sermonettes #066

If you can set aside 5 minutes to praise God every morning, it will transform your life; change you to have a victor’s attitude, and help you to soar above your tough situations in life like an eagle in the skies.
As you wake up each morning the first thought might be to pick the mobile and check for notifications Pause. It can wait. Focus your thoughts on God. Make it a deliberate effort each day.
Then think of who he is. He is the Creator infinite in power and wisdom. Praise him.
Now to look to the cross and the blood Jesus shed for the forgiveness of your sins. Praise him for his sacrifice. If you feel that your heart is cold and not having the warmth of your relationship with God; it could block your praise.
Perhaps you should review the moment you had fallen in love with Jesus the first time. Worries, anxieties, distractions, and daily routines of life might have dulled your sensitivity to his love. Return to your first love. Then praise will naturally follow.
Praising God is independent of our circumstances. Regardless whether we are happy or sad, enjoying plenty or in poverty, in good health or in sickness, when accepted by others or rejected; we can still praise him.
It is easily said. For when sad, poor, in bad health, or rejected I find it difficult to praise him. But it is a sacrifice of praise during those times. It means that in pain we choose to praise God. Not easy.
When we start praising God, the focus changes from our problems and difficulties. God grows bigger in our minds and we start to see our situations from God’s point of view. That changes our perspective.
Yet another benefit of praising God is that when we do so it lifts the spirit of despair that clouds our minds. See the spirit of despair not only drains our energy to take positive action but also steals our joy that we experience in our relationship with God and others. But praise will drive fear and demons away, and fill you with the strength of the joy of God.
One more thought is that praise fills our hearts with hope. It gives us a foretaste of heaven where all angelic beings and God’s children are constantly praising God. Heaven resounds with cries of “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty,” and thunderous “Hallelujahs.”
Yes, when you praise God, the Spirit of the living God makes the Risen and Living Jesus real to you. The presence of God will envelope you. The light of God will shine on you. And the love of God will be poured into your hearts in overflowing measure.
So take 5 minutes a day to praise God. Soon you will learn to do it more times in.a day. What a change it will bring to your life. Don’t wait for the right moment to begin. Why not start praising him now.
“I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.”
