The Kind of People God Chooses
God selects you not because of your accomplishments but looking at what you will become as you trust in Jesus. He knows that you might fail at certain moments. Yet he will use those very failures to polish you and refine you first.
God does not choose you because you are wise by the world’s standards. He often selects the foolish things of the world. He is willing to invest in you who is insignificant and small in the measure of this world.
God is not impressed with your outward appearances. He looks at your heart and weighs your motives. In other words, he is not going to recruit you because you can smile well, or you are smart and talented, or have superior education. But he is looking for character; a heart that loves God.
God’s Selection Process
God often gives you opportunities to serve as second fiddle to someone before elevating you to positions of leadership. He looks for people who serve joyfully and with humility. After they prove themselves reliable, trustworthy, and faithful in little things, God exalts them to offices of trust and gives them honour.
The path that God chooses to take you through will sometimes involve periods of loneliness, misunderstanding, hardship, suffering, and rejection by those close to you. This is the testing phase which is really tough to endure. Often he leaves us in the dark and the only option when all visible support and encouragement fails is to trust him in faith.
This process is hard because we are not told when God will shine the light in our path. This process is difficult because God seems not to be present in our distress and despair. This process is tough because our prayers seem to be swallowed in a black hole and God remains silent.
God Has Your Future in Mind
But if you are his child, washed by the blood of Jesus, you can be assured that he holds your hand, is guiding you continually, and has your highest good in mind. He knows when to make you pass through the fire to burn away your impurities; and when to walk along with you through the fire and bring you through.
The future he has in mind for you can come only through preparing you through such a process. And when his time is right; suddenly he will showcase you. He has now made you skilled for the work he has in mind for you and you will stand before kings and not before unknown people. Cheer up, for you are now taking part in God’s placement drive, and he will lift up your head in due time.
