Sunday Sermonettes | Come In: You Have Access at All Times

Supernatural Act of God

When Jesus died on the cross shedding his innocent blood for our sins; something supernatural happened. It is recorded in Matthew 27:51. “At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” God thus threw open for us access to him.

It means that you now have access to the throne of God 24 x 7. You are loved by God when you love Jesus and it is always, welcome, come in.

Symbol of Separation

The curtain in the temple was huge. It was, according to Jewish sources, approximately 60 feet hight and 30 feet wide and 3 inches thick. Only once a year the High Priest could enter in behind the curtain with the burning of incense and sprinkling of innocent animals’ blood.

It showed that God is holy and no one could casually enter his presence. It also showed that sin had brought an unbridgeable separation between God and men which only the blood of the Lamb of God could bridge.

The Torn Curtain Means

After the death of Jesus, the Holy Spirit revealed that the curtain represented the body of Jesus (see Hebrews 10:19, 20). And when Jesus’ body was broken on the cross for our sins, through his blood a new and living way of hope was thrown open to us.

Through this way we can enter the presence of God always. You are always welcome there.

You Are Always Welcome

What a privilege it is to have access to God at all times. Wherever you are right now, even as you read this, can you say, “Abba Father God, my dearest Daddy, I come to your presence by the precious blood of Jesus.” That’s all you need to know and say. You are then welcomed into his presence.

Don’t look at your insignificance. Don’t look at your sins, failures, and mistakes. Don’t trust in your goodness, your knowledge, or good deeds. Simply trust in the blood of Jesus to gain access. And just enjoy the presence of God. He is ever waiting to welcome you and enjoy your companionship.

Jesus and His Blood Speaks for You

And what can you tell him. Anything that is in your heart and mind. He is willing to listen. Is there any need for formal language? No. The blood of Jesus is sufficient to speak for you and on your behalf. And God honours the blood of Jesus above everything else. That is why prayers in his name are answered.

Will you take a moment to step into the presence of God right now with a sincere heart and full assurance of faith that you are most welcome there? Be confident. Do not fear, “for perfect love drives out fear.” Jesus is always there to speak on your behalf. So go in!
