That is the power of having such a title for your speech. Of course, it should be related to the subject under discussion.
As far as this title goes, it is personal and has a sense of mystery to it. And who does not love mystery stories?
Now if this is the real title of a speech what can I talk about it?
Of course, I can start by asking questions.
Why do people do things in secret?
What do you think?
It can be because they want to surprise others and they do not want others to know what they are doing. This is in a very positive sense. Someone wants to gift his or her loved one with a gift. And he or she goes shopping without letting anyone know about it. And then steals that gift home!
Some others do things in secret because what they are doing is still in the process and they do not want to entertain negative comments before it is finished. Imagine someone is doing a painting or a sculpture. Before the work is finished, if someone comments about its imperfections, it can be disheartening.
Yet there are others who never let others know what they do because they are not team players. They want to do things on their own, will never share credit with others for work they do. Most of the people belonging to this category have a boastful nature. They love to tell others, “I alone did it.”
Now there are a few others who do things in secret because they do not want to be found out. They know plainly that what they do is wrong. Yet they keep on doing it. Mostly these people love to be alone in their rooms, deriving pleasure by spending much time alone with their mobiles, tablets and computers. Some waste hours in chatting secretively destroying the sacredness of marriage!
In this context, it is good to listen to the Bible warning of what the woman Folly loudly says,
“Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!” “But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave.” (Proverbs 9:17, 18 NIV)
